All this petroleum based motor oil stuff got to me a long time ago and I took the advice of Sande MacMorran (UTK, KSO) and started using Olive Oil on my slides. It's thick enough that the slides don't move on their own but keeps the first valve slide nice and fast. It doesn't gunk up and leaves your horn smelling like a grecian salad (rather than a garage).
