The student who began this avalanche has to ask himself why or how urgently he needs to play. Then he needs to ask why he is studying with someone whom he believes fails to express sufficient positive reinforcement. Is this teacher at least an admirable role model in his own playing? And is he really a nasty guy, or is he just a bit crusty around the edges? Some really great teacher/players could be so described as the latter, yet they've had legions of succesfull and admiring students who eagerly immortalized their best/worst one-liners. Some long-time professionals develop a gallows wit and an arsenal of insult humor to mitigate their impatience, that not everyone understands. And anyone who intends to pursue music professionally cannot afford to be too thin skinned,
