This was posred by John Griffiths on the Tubaeuph list and I felt that was important:

Hi All:
February 1st was the deadline for applications/tapes to be a
competitor in the ITEC 2000 Competitions. I'm pleased to say that we
have a lot of tapes in almost all categories. There are however two
categories for which we're EXTENDING THE DEADLINE TO MARCH
31ST!!!: The RICH MATTESSON JAZZ Competition and the HIGH SCHOOL
ALL-STARS ensemble. Where ARE you guys (guys definitely being a generic
term)??? I heard a wonderful (apparently) high school jazzer at the
closing reception at the Army Band Conference for example. I should
also bring it to your attention that we can accept applications for the
STREET MUSICIANS' Competition right up to registration. You could
win some great prizes if you're wacko enough (along with being a
great player). The indefatiguable Kelly O will, I am sure, provide
further thought on that. We have some amazing prizes: pro horns from
Boosey and Hawkes, Meinl-Weston/B&S/Courtois, Yamaha, Mirafone... four
Yamaha Silent Brass for the quartet winner, $1000 from the Brasswind, a
Nate Griffith Mute, $500 from Willson...

If you'd like more information on competitions, please contact Dennis
Askew or check the website (address below).

See you at ITEC 2000!!

John
