During my (brief) career as the tuba instructor at the University of Kansas a long time ago, I talked at great length with Mr. P. at a multi-univerities tuba shindig in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
I CANNOT believe that he "requires" his students to buy certain tubas. He just didn't come across as one of those unscrupulous nor "anal-retentive" types that would behave in that manner AT ALL. Further, although a lot of attention was focused on him that weekend, he simply was not in the least bit presumptious...just a nice "live-and-let-live tuba dude".
Your claims do not conform to my assessment.
