If your teacher keeps bringing up "you needing a horn," there is a reason. The proper translation from an ethical teacher is; "I hear you having problems in your playing and I think you are spending time trying to overcome your current tuba versus time that should be spent on making music."
Now there is a topic for the list. "When should I upgrade to a better tuba?" Hint, for 99% of us it will always hurt the wallet.
