Look, if you are coming up with and executing your own ideas, and you really like what you are at least trying to do, then you should be your own favorite tuba player. There are a handful of people who clearly have better technique, more experience, clearer ideas and better stage presence and blending ability than the hundreds of us that are still working on things, but there is no point in ranking these guys.

So: Bobo, Jacobs, Perantoni, Fletcher, Lind, all the pro-orchestral guys, and a whole lot of the collegiate teachers and military band players. These are the best. Among these highly advanced and experienced musicians, it is a matter of taste, which is how it SHOULD be in an artform.
