It's poor form to respond to one's own posts, but reading mine I realized that I'm guilty of one of the worst falsehoods ever perpetrated. I actually said "I never made noise with the tuba." That is a profoundly untrue statement, as I'm embarassed to point out. Noise is just what I *do* make, and in copious quantities. I meant, of course, that I never dropped it on stage, which is different.
