If this is true, I submit one of the following is true:
1) You've never heard any GOOD (let alone great) tuba players, or
2) You are, like Dizzy G. and Bobby Shew, one of the VERY few (like one in 10 million) people who can get away with this.
My guess is that the latter is very unlikely, and the former quite likely. If you HAVE heard the greats, and CAN play as "bright, as loud, as fine, and as fast as" the greats, why would you ask OUR advice (or your teachers')? If not, then I'd suggest you start working on that embouchure. Good luck!
