I played this with my girlfriend at a recital she gave a few years ago. As I recall, I didn't much care for the piece, but it is cute. There's not much to it; tuba plays low and boomy, the piccolo plays high and light. To that end, I would suggest you use the biggest horn you can get your hands on, both for a very weighty sound, and to create as much visual contrast as possible (not that there wouldn't be a ridiculous contrast anyway, but hey, since the whole piece is a bit over the edge, why not go overboard yourself). The range of the part really isn't restrictive at all. A 6/4 CC would be fun...
