Joe, I lived in Detroit in 1940 - 1944. It was a lovely city, very much like pictures of Paris I have seen. Broad streets, wrought iron. Then half of Tennessee moved in to work in the "war plants" and we had race riots and filth by 1943. Wonder if I have cause and effect mixed up here? Well, no matter, there is a lot of that going around, isn't there?
