Actually Art, those plastic disks are the reason the valve guides can be replaced so easily and inexpensively... sure, they might not be there in 30 years, but they'll only cost four bucks and a phone call to replace... vs. however much it would cost to send each piston off and have a new valve guide put on it. Great convenience, if ya ask me!
