I recommend that you at least consider a Rudolf Meinl 5/4 CC and try one if you haven't. I've had mine for about 8 years and I love it. It is very free blowing and produces a large sonorous sound. I got mine used for $5000. I use it primarily in our orchestra but it does well in our opera orchestra too. It is not an easy instrument to play as it has a .868 bore but I prefer tubas with less resistance ....they will really let you blow! I have plyed other models in the last few years and I prefer it to others that cost$8-$9000 used.
