We got a great tip from Charlie Krause (then of WWBW). Get a cheap basketball or 2-square ball, deflat it a little, line your bell with a soft towel, then put the ball in the bell (only part way, of course. Reinflate the ball (use a portalbe bike pump) so the top of the ball is just touching the end of the case. This is a great shock absorber and air barrier. It also won't bend your bell up at all. Meg travelled to Europe on a 9 day 3 concert tour with the youth orchestra and the tuba was fine - on and off planes, trucks, buses, etc. The smoother the ball, the better but a new one works too. Just be sure to line the bell. Also, don't lose your pump needle or you can't inflate the ball!
Good luck at Eastman.
