The piece that Matt G. is speaking of is Christer Danielsson's
"Cappricio de camera" for Tuba and brass ensemble (sextet).
There are not alot of works for solo tuba with brass ensemble.
Might I suggest a number of great brass ensemble works that
feature the tuba very prominently.

"Troilet for Brass" by Andre Previn for tentet (414.01)
recorded on PBJE Finale (Chandos CHAN 8490)and the music
is available from G. Schirmer for around $300.00 rental fee.

"William and Mary Suite" by Derek Bourgeois, also 414.01.
Dedicated to the memory of John Fletcher by his former student.
Recorded on "Royal Eurostar" with London Brass Virtuosi
Hyperion CDA66870. Music available from BrassWind Publications
in England for around $70.00 U.S. currency.

"Homage to the Noble Grape" by Goff Richards, also 414.01. Recorded
by London Brass "Clowning Around" (Teldec 2292-46069-2)with the
music available from ????? some place in Jersey. If you are interested
I have it in my files and can give you the name. E-mail me.

These are all excellent works that require professional players.
They are challenging yet fun to play and equally important, fun
from the audience standpoint!

Oh yes! One I almost forgot. Malcolm Arnolds "Symphony for Brass,
Opus 123" for 414.01. Recorded by the PJBE but out of print. The
music is available from Boosey & Hawkes in New York for $150.00.
One of the most challenging brass ensemble works I have ever played!
I can't wait to do it again.

One more...bass trombonist Jeremy Van Hoy arranged a Star Wars Medley
that includes, note-for-note, the Jabba solo. No problem standing out
on this one and a huge crowd pleaser. You can contact Jeremy at:

Again, these do not feature the tuba "up front" but believe me, they
will give you ample opportunities to shine and give the entire ensemble
a workout.

Good luck!
