I never knew of any other tuning from the long whole step. With the extension that I have it is hard to tell that it isn't a factory length. I have never seen a new Yamaha with a long 5th valve. I have experienced similar tuning problems with the fifth valve fingering combinations. I might get it shortened, as the 235 low Bb is flat. I have a tuning trigger on the horn so I can take care of it, but it is still a little frustrating.
