You have the tools. You have the knowledge. If you make the time, you'll do great. There's nothing more to it than that!

Besides, we'll be soul mates of a sort. I found out yesterday that we're doing a concert next month with Charlotte Church (for those of you who don't know, she's the Welsh 14 year old vocal phenom) and the feature piece for the orchestra on the concert is An American in Paris. Look at the bright side: at least your conductor is going to know the solo intimately as a player and he will probably give you lots of leeway in interpreting the cadenza like passage.
