I are alot of conductors that are total idiots though our job is to play as they ask. This doesnīt mean leaving out your personality when you play only what they ask for as far as style, volume etc.. is concerned. I also feel that there a 1 million ways to play the tuba solo so donīt worry what anybody else does. Listen to recordings for guides but play it how you feel it (with good taste). Good luck.
