Richard, you opened a door in my brain-housing group when you metioned "Jos.Scherzer, Jr." A few years ago I was on an annual trek to Tuba World and rooted out an old BBb along the back wall where they used to keep the "old stuff". I plunked down some bucks for a rotary collector's piece with the "Scherzer" name on it. I eventually traded it in at Tuba Exchange but I wish I had kept it. You are right on when you say "made like a TANK"...if I could have dropped a short block in to her I could have driven her around town! Man, that horn was built solid. Thickest brass I've ever seen on a horn. Jay, Rick, any of you historians able to give us some info on the Scherzer name?
