Hi, I'm a senior in highschool, and I've been in marching band for the past four years. I was practically the only tuba player that played (it was me against 60 other people, and i occasionaly over played) I played on an 11 year old sousaphone that sounded like crap. Well, to the point, all the sousaphone players are graduating this year, so there won't be anyone left and there will be abunch of 8th graders marching next year. So my band director was thinking about finally buying new sousaphones (against my will). I thought that sousaphones are better than convertables, but I havent' marched with a convertable for four years. I have read the past discussion on this topic, but it only helped a little bit. So could you guys list reasons why you think one is better than the other. My band director was also hoping to get these horns in silver instead of gold. Thanks for all your help
