Before WWII there were quite a few instrument manufacturers in Kraslice and Cerveny in Hradec Kralove, in what was originally known as Bohemia. Bohland & Fuchs, Huttl, Keilwerth, and Kohlert were some of the larger Kraslice ones. After WWII, when the factories were returned from making military goods, a cooperative, known as Amati, was formed in Kraslice. Several years later they merged with Cerveny to form the current company. I have seen some B&F instruments from the 19th century that were very interesting and nice players.

You can check the Amati web site or The New Langwill Index for more detailed history.
