I've had a 2145 that I bought new from Batltimore Brass for about 2 weeks now. This horn is pretty amazing. I was kinda shocked when I read that he didn't like the sound of the MWs that he tried at Brasswind. Yet, for the first half hour or so that I had this horn, I was a little frustrated at the sound; it plays so differently (much easier...) than my Alexander that I'm used to. but after I got accustomed to the 2145, I just fell in love with it. The low register is VERY impressive, even better than my Alex BBb. In fact, my favorite notes to play on this horn are probably everything from G below the staff down, to about G on octave below that. He should give this horn a long try, I think. Especially with the larger valveset shared with the other MWs, this is an EXCELLENT CC.
