HA!!! Ya know...a couple people in the tuba studio here at Ithaca College have the Dillon-built horns. I HEARD that they used sousaphone valves for the horns....and you just showed me the proof. I was (and still am) jealous of the action of the valves on my friend's Dillon horns. Everytime I played on one of them I had a feeling I played them somewhere else. I did. It was marching in parades in High School...back when I could read BBb fingerings! :) (HAAA How many other CC tubists have lost their chops on BBb tuba fingerings?) I swear those Conn (I think they were Conn) sousas had the fastest and smoothest valves I have ever played.
