On the other hand, to just "get" some used valves, the cheapest route would be to buy a "rough" 36K fiberglass, and on ebay even "rough" 36K's seem to go for $350.

I guess if I wanted an old Conn sousa to work and needed a piston, I might try to "luck into" a valve for awhile, but eventually I'd pay the $180 (and not feel cheated).
