does your horn or the 2000 have the plastic valve guides? just curious since my 2000 has metal ones and i'm not having any problems with mine. maybe there is a way to change the valve guides? i'm not sure since i'm not a tech. the only real "problem" i have is having to "french horn" my tuba when i want to empty out the water. but i can live with that.
