i would suggest getting some of the torchinsky books. this may be too advanced but if it is not this will kill 2 birds with one stone. it'll help you read stuff with ledger lines below the staff and they are orchestral parts that are standards in the repertoire which i would consider "must know." also, there is nothing wrong with going out and getting some inexpensive and technically easy music. i would much rather listen to a player make music with easy stuff than listen to a player hack through a piece that is too difficult for them.
