I have an indonesian didjeridoo made from a fairly hefty chunk of bamboo. Makes a good sound, even on 3rd/4th harmonics which resonate extremely loudly (although as you'd expect, they don't really fit any harmonic series). Great for practicing circular breathing. As far as performance goes, I was once asked to play at a pagan festival....
