I've taken tubas through Greyhound a couple of times, and I haven't had any problems. Do watch them put your tuba on the right bus, though. Sometimes there are two buses going to the same destination, and if your tuba doesn't go on the same bus that you are on you might have to wait a few days for them to track it down.
