Can you explain how this "compact sound" follows from the key?
Or, is it instead the case (as I suspect) that "compactness" and key are independent variables - except that manufacturers tend to link them?
Something like "cheap construction" - as in, BBb tubas have cheap construction whereas CC tubas are much more robust.
Or, "student" - there are more student BBb tubas than student CC tubas (so all students should use a BBb!)
