I recently heard the Saito Kinen orchestra (from Japan) do Mahler 9 with Seiji Ozawa conducting. To my ears, that was THE best sounding York copy I've ever heard. Granted, a lot of that may have had to do with where the tubist was seated, and where my seats were located (front of second tier). Of course, the player is a major factor too! - I'm not denying that. Can anybody tell me if that was one of the YamaYorks we've been hearing so much about?
