Nothing personal, but are you making this stuff up? The CC tuba became "industry standard" in the late 20's because it projected well and was generally built on a smaller, somewhat tighter bore. This allowed the tuba to be picked up by primitive microphones for radio broadcasts. With all due respect to Mr. Jacobs, who started on a CC in the 30's, the tone was already set, he really didn't have anything to do with the physical evolution, just the revolution in THOUGHT process that makes those priceless hunks of metal sing. If any one changed the face of large tubas, it was Leopold Stowkowski who commissioned the York Company to build the biggun's for Donatelli. August Helleberg was instrumental in spreading the CC craze in the late 1800's.
Personally, who gives a rip what you play. If you got a $50.00 talent, a $10,000 hunk of harmless metal that looks real pretty collecting dust is just that, the world's most expensive dust collector.
