Hey Billy,
I am originally from Hull, Mass. but now call Harleysville Pa. home. I stared out as a saxaphone player in elementary school and played Bass baritone in local CYO Drum Corps. I became a reed slash Brass player through High School and joined the Marine Corps as a Tuba/Electric bass/reed player after High School. While a member of the 2nd Marine Division Band in NC I auditioned and got into the, "Commandants Own", Marine D&B in Washington. I did a four year stint with the Drum Corps and got burned out on travel and got out of active duty and went into reserve duty as a launch and recovery specialist at Willow Grove Naval Air Station in Pa. At the same time I got married got a full time job with UPS and went to College full time. Times got hard and got into debt and bought a house. I Changed professions to the Horticulture/Irragation field and continue to play tuba for fun and a buck when ever the oppurtunity arises. I Had two kids and left my full time job to stay home and raise the kids(this was a really tough choice to make)and I have been doing this for the last five years. I continue to practice, (not nearly as much as I use to or should)and playing Tuba because I love to. I am probably too passionate about it at times to the point of obsession. I'm into every thing about tubas and the more I read about tubas I keep finding out how much I don't know. If its musical and has some form of a Tuba part I am there wether it pays or not(this drives my wife up a wall). I am 2 1/2 years into a BS in Music ed and still take classes when time and money dictate but have changed my major to Elementary ED cause I love to work with young kids and also I can't nor do I have the desire to play piano to the degree it takes to teach effectively in a public school. This is probably much more info than you wanted but you asked.
