I agree with Joe. Asking a general quesiton about the integrity of a business is fine, but saying you heard a bad rumor about a business and asking if it is true is not. It plants a seed of doubt in the readers mind.
Lately, several politicians have been using this tactic: "I am not accusing you of being a racist, but why did you...". I and I suspect Joe see through this, but many peple don't and they begin to wonder about the non-accused accused.
