I started playing the tuba (again) about 2 months ago. I found this site about an hour ago. I played the sousaphone in grammer school and high school. Joined the Army in 1958 and began jumping out of airplanes. I soon discovered the 101st. Airborne Division Band, the only all parachute qualified band in the world. I picked up the sousaphone again and travled with the 101st. Airborne Division Band, jumping out of airplanes and playing loud music. It was a pretty good band but it was best known for being loud.
I was discharged in 1961 and my life went in a different direction. 39 years and 6 months later, I shaved off my mustache and bought an old 3/4 besson (cheap). I'm having so much fun playing again and am excited about finding this site. The people here seem very nice and quite knowledgeable. For those duing the math, I turned 60 in Feb.
