I see a lot of discussion on this BBS about "the switch" in dread terms. My daughter, a trumpet player, is begging me to buy her a C trumpet. She doesn't want to switch to C trumpet, she wants to add it to her arsenal. I have other friends who have D trumpets and, well you get the idea.
Are tubas so different that it is impossible to keep several "keys" in your head at once? People in glass houses should not throw stones, and I've never tried switching keys, but it seems to me that other instrumentalists do this as a matter of course.
