You know, really I can't say how long it was. I had that dead time in playing from the end of high school, to the 1st week of college before I got my CC. But before I bought the horn, I knew I was going to get a CC, just didn't know which one. So during the summer, I actually "studied" the fingerings, buzzed the mouthpiece, fingered CC fingerings when reading music. When my horn got here, I basicly picked it up, and went to rehearsal (luckily I'm only in a community group right now, but its a good one). I was supprised by how much of the music I played sight-reading that first rehearsal (maybe close to 75%?), when the 1st concert came around (about a month later), it was easy. Now, a year-and-a-half later, I still get confused when I see Fb though, still want to play them 2nd valve. Other than that, I'm doing better than ever
