Looks like the debut recording of the John Williams Tuba Concerto will be by a tuba player after all. The soloist is British, Marc Easener. If anyone knows about him, his professional affiliations etc., hop on. The recording is contained on an anthology called Twentieth Century Concerti. Once it has ceased to be a new release, it will be a filing nightmare, destined for miscellany hell, because it contains 4 concerti by 4 composers for 4 instruments. In my store, you'll always be able to find a copy in the tuba file. The other works are Taillefaire Harp Concerto, Tomasi Saxophone Concerto, and Mayuzumi Xylophone Concerto. The Foundation Philharmonic is conducted by David Snell.

That's 20th Century Concerti on ASV - Release date March 26.

Then there's the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble 20th Century Album, containing among other things, Poulenc Brass Trio Sonata, Tomasi Procession du Vendredi-Saint, Arnold Symphony for Brass, Previn 4 Outings, and Hindemith Morgenmusik. That's on Decca - February 26.
