To answer your question about the fingering it depends on the horn you play and how well you have developed that register. If you choose to use the 23 combonation you must put the time in on practice to get it consistant before a judgement to use an alternate fingering can be made. To be able to hit that note reliably you must be able to go a few steps higher with regularity. I would suggest that you play scales in that register to key in on the tonal center and also in lower registers too. Then arpegios to accomplish the leaps in interval. Time in practice will get you there. The rest is up to you. As for me either 23,2 work and some times 2 is better in tune and I play a Mirafone 186. My F# or Gb the octave below the one you are trying to hit can sometimes be a little squirley but time in has made it consitant.
