It comes out of your belonging to a minority, tubawise. You most likely have started out on piano and/or with a solid theoretical foundation.

Hence you call a C a C no matter which clef you read it from.

The Bb trumpet to Eb tuba bass clef transition trick has nothing to do with theory, but with the coincidental fact, that the 1st line E in treble clef represents the pitch of 1st line G in bass clef concert, when played on an Eb tuba read in treble clef.

PS: The weak point of your thinking, is that a C read by a Bb trumpeter sounds as a Bb concert.
