I'm glad that I'm not alone in not quite liking this new tuba. My impressions were very similar to yours regarding the new King. I find the mid and high registers to have a great deal of resistance and the pitch on the examples I played was o.k., but not great. The low register seemed best of all. I wonder if a larger bore size would make the horn a bit better...but of course that would make it a completely different instrument altogether. It's all a matter of personal preference as I'm sure there are many people who sound good on this horn and love playing it. It just didn't seem to work for me.
