I have played the Wilhelm several times with piano. I have not done it with wind ensemble, but I've listened to a couple of recordings of it. The piano reduction is difficult, but it works well. It is a much more effective piece with piano than Tuba Buffo, J Williams, or VW. I would say its more like the Gregson as far as being adaptable to tuba and piano.
