As with Beuscher, this is an anglicized umlaut. I would pronounce it BUR-ma, but without making the R sound. Likewise, the tuba maker Boehm and Meinl should be pronounce BURM, against without the R sound. We write it Boehm just because nobody wants to fool with their character map to find Böhm. But I usually hear Bome (as in Rome), and have also heard Beem.
