If i were going to be a music major (which im not) and my future teacher said i couldn't get a horn because HE didn't like it I'd tell him to shove it and then find a teacher who would want me to use the horn i sound the best on.
Prof. Joe Somebody may think that Meinl Weston tubas are straight from God, but if i don't sound good on them all that getting one would do would be holding me back.
Prof. Fred Cool might say he palys a Conn 56J and likes it but that I sound better on a Yamaha? I'd get the Yamaha. I sound better on a Jupiter? I'd get a jupiter. I sound better on a St. Pete? I'd kill myself (sorry, couldn't help saying that) :-)
