I started resurrecting an old Buescher sousa today hoping I could get the piston bores to clean up at no more than .010" oversize. This horn was played so hard over the years that the 1st valve slide was worn ALL THE WAY THRU and had been patched with J-B Weld! Anyway, the bores finally cleaned up at .976" or about .021" over. I have three usable pistons that measure .955 diameter. Does anyone have valve body complete with tuning slides that might fit this horn? It's an Eb serial number 198796 - patent date October 28, 1907. There is also a 'B' marked on the center cylinder. I could probably do a pretty nice job on the valves by having them built up and plated but with the work I'll have to do on the valve cluster tubing, I would be better off just putting in another valve body.
