On the subject of David Maslanka, we (the TCU wind symphony) just performed his newest piece named Testament, which I personally think is really great. We've just recorded it for our CD that will be produced hopefully pretty soon, and I suggest you all give it a listen. We recently performed it at CBDNA in houston, and TMEA in san antonio and it was VERY well liked there. For those of you who follow Maslanka's work, this is a piece that definitely continues his string of excellent work. I haven't heard anything that I really don't like from that man... I think he's gonna be very, very big down the line. I'm honored to be able to say that I've premiered one of this man's pieces for the first time, and I don't see many recordings of his pieces out there so the TCU wind symphony CD might be one of the only ones to be made for a while.
