I disagree with Art's 'take it or leave it' attitude. While the guest conductor is a professional writer, you too are a professional musician. You have thousands of dollars invested in your horn, kit, and all the lessons that got you where you are. Know that and believe it. The guest conductor NEEDS you, not the other way around. Remember it and act on it. Make a stand (in an appropriate manner). Don't empower rude people by putting up with it.
