Being a school teacher, whenever I hear the word "pliers" in the context of musical instruments I get nervous.
I second Rick's suggestion: I used a strongboy on a B+H imperial at the end of last year. There's very little room to manoeuvre, but it is possible.
Do your horn a favour: lose the pliers!
