The only negative about leaving a horn in freezing cold over a long period is that sometimes a lesser quality valve oil (usually with some water content) will freeze in the valve. No damage, but you will have to warm the horn for it to play withoput sluggish valves.

I have played in cold enough weather that I had to pour coffee on the valve casings for them to work right. (maybe an interesting thread starter here)
