I had the good fortune of getting a call to work with the great jazz drummer Louie Bellson. The event was a concert, last night, of the Stanford Jazz Orchestra on the Stanford University Campus. Mr. Bellson was featured in a program of his own compositions. His "Jazz Ballet" is written for big band and additional instruments, including tuba. I was part of a number of players hired to compliment the Stanford group.

Louie is almost 80, but his playing, appearance and manner belie his years. He cut a very dashing figure dressed in a black tux topped off with a deep red pocket handkerchief.

It was an honor and pleasure to get to play the gig.
