Is that really true? Did they actually shorten the bell or did they just thin it a little? The reason I ask is because every single 5/4 I've ever seen looked identical to me. I don't remember any of them having a taller bell than any others. I've been seeing these horns since I was in high school because they're so popular. I even have a current student who has one. As near as I can tell, the design hasn't changed at all in all that time. I'd be curious to hear the specifics of what changes were made to the 5/4 and when.
