I've read that article once or twice. I think it comes with the literature you get when one becomes a Schilke dealer:

With all of the scientific research and supposedly knowing exactly how and where to tweak their trumpets during various manufacturing processes, it's interesting to me how few folks are enamoured with Schilke trumpets...with the obvious exception of their piccolo model.

Maybe my instrument-making theory of copying reliable models combined with trial-and-error is fairly valid after all (???).
